CLMA's Good Practice Sharing

The Good Practice Sharing (GPS) program was created to fill a very important need within the clinical laboratory profession. CLMA members, representing clinical laboratory leadership, are always searching for ways to improve patient safety and quality issues within laboratory processes, but the lack of best practice definitions and industry standards related to patient safety limit leadership's ability to build on the experience of others. GPS was created to facilitate the efficient implementation of quality improvement initiatives through creation of a network of members who have led or worked on relevant projects and who are willing to collaborate with their colleagues. The real world faces too many challenges to constantly reinvent the wheel. With the help and support of CLMA Chapters, we will be successful in creating a robust tool to make everyone's job easier.
For more details on the Good Practice Sharing (GPS) program, please contact Kimberly Grady, the GPS Chicago Chapter Liason.
Want to connect with the new generation?
Click here to see the fascinating and humorous Beloit College Mindset List. A creation of Beloit’s Keefer Professor of the Humanities Tom McBride and Public Affairs Director Ron Nief, it looks at the cultural touchstones that have shaped the lives of today’s first-year students. Some samples from the list for the class of 2011 are below.
1. What Berlin wall?
2. Humvees, minus the artillery, have always been available to the public.
3. They never “rolled down” a car window.
4. They never saw Johnny Carson live on television.

Abbott's Labs Are Vital
Laboratory professionals play a critically important role in human health. Without diagnosis and monitoring there can be no treatment of disease. Yet today, laboratories face increasingly tough challenges. Abbott wants to offer support—not just kind thoughts, but tangible aid. That is why we are sponsoring Labs Are Vital™, a multi-year, multi-pronged campaign to promote the profession and to help address some of its current challenges. Leadership Pickles
Being in leadership is a tough job. It requires you to be the best you can be at all times. The key principles of "The Leadership Pickles" will inspire you to give your employees your very best.
Corrine Cagney and Keith Nelson facilitated "The Leadership Pickles!" video at our 2006, Chicago Chapter CLMA Fall Educational event. Click here to see the overview of the presentation and the results of the breakout sessions where our Chicago Chapter leaders identified ways to deliver THE LEADERSHIP PICKLES!
Our chapter leaders love the “Give ‘em the PICKLE!” customer service video! In the spirit of “Give ‘em the Pickle”, CLMA CEO Dana Procsal purchased the “Leadership Pickles!” for chapters and members to rent for a nominal fee (the video itself costs about $800). It is a great video for your laboratory and/or hospital leadership team.
